The Association of Cancer Online Resources (ACOR) has been discontinued as a non-profit organization, but a number of its affiliated cancer mailing lists continue to remain active thanks to ongoing access to LISTSERV services donated by L-Soft international Inc. We thank them for their generosity.
The remaining active ACOR LISTSERV lists are now managed by
Ben Parker of Best Effort Co by arrangement
with Gilles Frydman, the original founder of ACOR.
What Information We Collect
The information that we gather falls into two categories:
Personally Identifiable Information: This is any kind of information about a specific user, including email address and name. ACOR only collects personally identifiable information that you explicitly give us, as when you subscribe to any ACOR email list or login to this website.
How We Use Your Information
Because all ACOR email lists are discussion lists about various types of cancer, submitting your e-mail address will sign you up to receive relevant e-mails via ACOR. Note however that all emails are the views of the individual posting the message and are not an expression of ACOR itself. ACOR exercises no editorial control over any messages or their contents.
We will never provide your e-mail address or any of your personal information to any other person or organization, for any purpose, except to comply with applicable law or legal requirements (for example, a lawful subpoena).
ACOR keeps your data accurate to the extent that you provide us with the information needed to do so. If your data changes (e.g. new email address), then you are responsible for notifying us (via your List Manager) or by self-modifying your own subscription record.
Cookies and Data Tracking
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user. Some parts of this site may be password-protected. We may use a cookie (cookies reside on your computer and are under the control of your browser) to help us remember and process messages that you read or post through this site. We may also use stored cookies to enable you to return to password-protected areas of the website without having to re-enter your password. You may choose to opt out of cookies, either by refusing consent for cookies on the website, or by disabling cookies through your browser settings. However if you do so, you may not be able to access certain parts of this site. We may also use third-party services such as, but not limited to, Google Analytics. This Non-Personally Identifiable Information helps us understand traffic patterns and know if there are problems with our website.
Links to Other Sites
The privacy policies and practices contained in this Privacy Statement do not apply to ANY external links that may appear in email messages posted to any ACOR email lists or on any pages of this website. This Privacy Statement only applies to our site and our email lists. It does not cover sites that are linked to by this site or sites for which we are not responsible ("linked-sites"). These linked-sites will have their own policies and practices which will likely be different from ours. We therefore encourage you to familiarize yourself with the policies and practices of any such linked-sites, especially if you provide personal information to them.
Amendments and Consent to This Privacy Statement
By using our site or subscribing to any ACOR email list, you consent to the collection and use of the information as we have described. If we change our policies and practices, we will post the changes in our Privacy Statement so that you are always aware of them. With this knowledge, you can make an informed decision about whether you wish to provide personal information to us.
