Avant de lancer HEM-ONC-FR, ACOR a créé plus de 90 listes anglophones.
Chaque liste,spécialisée pour un type de cancer spécifique,fournit le support
et le transfert de l?information médicale nécessaire pour améliorer la qualité
de vie, ainsi que pour parfois, augmenter ses chances de survie lorsqu?on
souffre d?un cancer rare ou diagnostiqué à un stade avancé.
Les listes anglophones permettent actuellement d?offrir des services à près de
38.000 patients,avec un nombre toujours croissant de grands spécialistes prèts à
apporter une information médicale de qualité.

Il est temps de créer un environnement similaire pour les patients francophones.

A qui est destinée HEM-ONC-Fr ?

Cette liste francophone est crée de manière à faciliter le support et l?accès à
l?information pour les gens concernés ? de près ou de loin ? par les cancers du sang:
les patients, bien évidemment, leur famille, leurs proches, le personnel soignant,
qu?il soit médical ou paramédical ainsi que les scientifiques travaillant sur la
recherche.

De quoi y parle t?on ?

Parmi les nombreux sujets possibles de discussion sur HEM-ONC-Fr,
on peut citer l?évolution d?un traitement, ses effets secondaires,
sa vie de tous les jours, ses espoirs, ses angoisses, ses tuyaux
permettant d?améliorer tel ou tel problème dû aux traitements, ainsi
que la terreur que chacun ressent lors du diagnostic. N?oublions pas non plus
les problèmes d?emploi, d?assurance vie et la vaste gamme de problèmes sociaux
pouvant être associés à la maladie. HEM-ONC-FR devrait être aussi utilisée pour
transmettre les nouvelles découvertes sur le cancer et les traitements
expérimentaux.

Cependant le but premier de la liste est d?apporter par l?expérience personnelle
de chacun des abonnés, information et soutien au patient et à ses proches.
Le cancer reste un ensemble de maladies dangereuses, soignées par des traitements
ayant souvent des effets secondaires importants.
L?aspect psychologique d?un diagnostic de cancer est souvent sous-évalué,même par le
médecin qui l'a fait. Malgré la disponibilité de leur médecin traitant, les patients
peuvent se sentir isolés et incompris par leur proches et les gens avec lesquels ils
travaillent.

The Human Genome Project: Ethical, Legal & Policy Issues
This is a list to discuss the ethical, legal and policy implications
of the Genome Project and its clinical applications.

Appropriate topics will include, among others:

- Evolving legislative solutions to genetic discrimination,
- Expected changes in health care delivery as a result of the growing
body of knowledge on the genetic basis of medical disorders,
including the possible influence on minorities and the refusal
to cover expansive genetic therapies.
- Influence of the genetic discoveries on the deterministic view of
Medicine and the possible remedies against this trend.

While case studies related to clinical applications could be mentioned,
ANY PARTICULARS or PERSONAL DATA should NOT be discussed on this public
forum.

Participants should have an active interest in basic scientific
research, clinical applications of genetic discoveries or in
