Inactivation of p53 is a central event in the ethiology of malignant transformation of more than 50% of human primary tumors. Reconstitution of the expression of functional p53 by either gene therapy or by alteration of p53 mutant conformations is expected to be central for the eradication of cancer cells. p53 Research is one of the most competitive and hectic in the race towards the solution of the cancer problem.
